Down Town Hospital Kamrup Metropolitan is a multispecialty tertiary care hospital based in Guwahati. With 300 beds, the hospital provides specialty care and services to not only people in the state, but also neighboring countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. The hospital has been providing the best healthcare facilities and treatments since the last 31 years, and is well equipped with the latest technology.
Down Town Hospital Kamrup Metropolitan is equipped with 15 state of the art operating theaters that have the latest life saving equipment like ventilators, defibrillators, and oxygen tanks, along with general and special wards for the patients. The hospital has the facilities to perform other complex surgeries like neurosurgery, orthopedics, cardiothoracic surgery, and renal and liver transplants.
Down Town Hospital Kamrup Metropolitan has performed the first successful kidney and liver transplant in the North-Eastern region, and since then, has become a frontrunner for these transplants. In addition to this, the hospital also has a state of the art and ultra-modern catheterization laboratory which has minimum radiation exposure, along with a modern IVF center with high success rates.
The hospital is accredited by NABH - National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, as it provides safe and quality facilities to the patients. The hospital also has been certified under the ISO 9001:2015. Down Town Hospital Kamrup Metropolitan has a fully functional laboratory which is the first hospital laboratory in North-East India to be accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories or NABL.
A feather in the cap is that the hospital is officially recognized by the Governments of all the North-East Indian states, as well as the Royal Government of Bhutan. Down Town Hospital is also empanelled by over 120 private and public sector organizations.

Down Town Hospital Kamrup Metropolitan was commissioned on 15th February 1989. The hospital was established as a part of a vision of Dr. NN Dutta, the founder, chairman, and the managing director. Dr. Dutta had a vision to establish a quality hospital that would cater to the needs of the citizens of the region, who would otherwise have to travel far to get treatment.
For over thirty years now, the hospital has grown in leaps and bounds, serving patients from all walks of life with compassion. The Down Town Hospital was initially a 40 bed hospital with 15 doctors and 32 support staff, and has now grown into a 300 bed hospital with over 100 doctors.
Due to the efforts of Dr. NN Dutta, the hospital is also now recognized for post graduate training in family medicine, ENT, general medicine, orthopedic surgery, and cardiology by the National Board of Examination in Delhi.
